Protean / FlexProcess ERP

TRAFFIC™ is a mobile computing, bar code and RFID solution integrated with all Protean ERP functions via Standard APIs. Using RF technology, TRAFFIC™ allows for the real-time entry, recording and updating of inventory and non-inventory transactions within an organization. It also allows the user to query the main ERP or EAM system database by providing a set of on-line query tools.

TRAFFIC™ is based on a proven architectural design. Flexibility is built into TRAFFIC™ which can be deployed as a client-server (2-tier) or n-tier application. Presentation and business logic are separated to enhance scalability and maintainability. Multi-language user interaction is available, RF communication is via industry-standard HTTP and Telnet protocols, and multiple device types are supported. Database-driven security ensures that users see only those parts of the system that they are authorized to.

IPC Global has developed a range of data extract templates for the Protean ERP environment that provide a robust and efficient route to using QlikView as the Business Analysis tool of choice. These templates are designed to provide customers with a structured, consistent and incremental extract process leveraging 20 years experience working with Protean.

IPC Global’s EDI solution has been developed in VB.NET

In order to facilitate the interface between the 3rd Party EDI Provider and the various Protean Tables involved in the Inbound and Outbound transactions, the application has been developed to use intermediate SQL tables to communicate to the outside EDI applications.

This conveniently shelters the EDI provider from intimately understanding the Protean Database tables, and facilitates the development effort to interface to any EDI package.  The communication tool between Protean and the EDI provider, for each transaction, is SQL table(s) that house all fields required for each transaction.

For inbound transactions, Protean monitors these EDI custom tables for newly posted data, and processes it as necessary.  Similarly, outbound records are added to the EDI tables and the 3rd party EDI vendor application will retrieve and process the newly added records.
